Client overview

Miles is an unconventional IT consultancy that prioritizes creating a positive work environment over traditional KPIs and budgets. With over 150 highly skilled professionals, Miles provides a range of services including project deliveries, consultancy, management, and business consulting, as well as UX design. With offices in Bergen, Stavanger, Oslo, Mumbai, and Johannesburg, the team at Miles is dedicated to delivering excellence and sharing knowledge. The company is known for fostering a collaborative, inspiring atmosphere for both its employees and clients.

The challenge

Miles provides IT consultancy services across numerous industries, which meant their bid team spent considerable time updating and formatting CVs for bids and tenders. The CVs were stored in a folder structure and were rarely updated by the consultants themselves, leading to inefficiencies. Moving to a cloud-based solution became a clear necessity. Flowcase offered much of the needed functionality right out of the box, but Miles also required additional features to showcase their consultants' diverse skills and experiences. For bids and tenders, they often needed an overview of these competencies in the form of lists or matrices, broken down by office location or skillset. To solve this, Miles decided to create a custom solution using Flowcase’s API, pulling data from their master database for this purpose.

Why Flowcase

Kjartan from Miles noted that they prefer to use well-designed cloud-based apps, and Flowcase fit perfectly. It allowed them to get started quickly, providing the essential features they needed. The availability of the Flowcase API enabled Miles to use their own expertise to design a custom solution that added value for both their sales team and consultants. Without Flowcase, they wouldn't have access to the wealth of data that powers their internal tools like Mforce.

"With Flowcase's well documented API we could quickly create the integration needed to create our own custom solution which fit our need.”

Kjartan Juvik, Bid Manager

Mforce integration

Mforce is a custom-built application that integrates with the Flowcase API, gathering data from the platform into a structured database. This allows employees at Miles to generate reports and tables with specific information, such as the competency matrix, which answers key questions for bid and sales managers, like how many people in each location have a particular skillset and level of experience. The software automates the process of counting years of experience and categorizing skills, saving time and ensuring accuracy. Mforce also tracks trending industries, compares recent projects with historical data, and provides a quick overview of where consultants are currently stationed. Additionally, it includes an email reminder tool that encourages employees to update their CVs, ensuring the data remains fresh and accurate. This integration has streamlined internal processes and empowered Miles to win more tenders.

How Flowcase helped

Flowcase’s integration capabilities allowed Miles to automate previously time-consuming tasks related to CV updates and data presentation. The API facilitated a custom solution that enabled employees to manage their CVs easily, providing accurate, up-to-date information for bids and tenders. With Flowcase now part of their onboarding process, all employees have greater ownership over their CVs, while the sales and bid teams benefit from always having the most current data available. As a result, the quality of their bids and tenders has improved, contributing to increased business for the company. Employees also enjoy more control over showcasing their skills, which helps them receive more relevant and rewarding challenges.

Miles has seen significant time savings and improvements in bid quality thanks to the combination of Flowcase and the Mforce integration. Employees now have better ownership of their CVs, and the sales team always has access to up-to-date information, resulting in higher quality proposals and more business for the company. Flowcase has also empowered employees by allowing them to showcase their skills more effectively and receive more relevant opportunities within the company.
